Where’s the “face”?
all I saw was an airport reader board.there are paint tools in AE. they depend totally on your artistic skills. Drawing in AE is a waste of time, mostly.

They’re not corrupt, they just don’t exist. These are reference movies that you exported and then brought back into your program. But the items the reference files point to are gone, probably render files that were replaced with updates or deleted because FCP assumed they were obsolete.

You can use Expression Controls and link all of your layers to the control layer.

I do no know of any Caustics tutorials that can be obtained online or free. Total Training’s older series include extensive information for the set of filters Brian Maffitt created for AE that include Shatter, Caustics, Card Dance, Foam, Radio Waves, Colorama, and others.
Caustics is not too difficult to grasp but the range and number of adjustments is mind boggling. you don’t need most of them to get convincing water.

the canvas is a low rez sample of your rendered output. You must view the full rez, interlaced output on a television monitor not a small computer display.

Charts require careful design in order to work well and to be legible on television. Using Excel and Powerpoint are certain ways to get terrible charts for two reasons: the graphics were never intended to be shown as rasterized pixels and the presets are, for the most part, stupid and lame designs that ignore all information display paradigms (see Tuffte’s many books on the topic).
Red Giant sells a remarkable data animation system but even it is based on misplaced information display paradigms. the animations are slick and elegant; the information communication/junk and noise ratio is questionable.

You can throw money at the chore and purchase automated solutions or you can devote the same energy and expertise to creating them as you do the rest of your video content.

Just search this forum, the question comes up often. There are plugins you can buy or there are ways to fake it. Decision is based on your budget and patience.
My advice on these is always to treat it gently. A little of this look goes a l-o-n-g way. It’s very easy to overdose your audiencebogiesan

I can tell you why, Thomas: the default quality of PAR Correction simply drops or adds columns of pixels rather than blending or interpolating. There is a solution, though, and that is to use Lloyd Alvarez’s excellent Throttle script to set the super-secret PAR Correction Quality preference.https://aescripts.com/throttle-12/

You will need to separate the items using rotoscoping if you want to apply lights or effects to specific areas.
