  • Looking to turn text into ice and then the screen freezes?

Posted by David Del on January 23, 2009 at 3:12 am

I want some text to turn icy and look like it is freezing AND then when the text is fully frozen, I want the screen to take on some of that ice and look like it is freezing as well. Any ideas? I was thinking ROUGH EDGES for the ice on the text, but suggestions would be great!

If I were doing this quickly, using only After Effects and Photoshop, I would apply an icy texture to the text using a blending mode and mask and then animate a mask to reveal the icy texture. Same thing for the screen. Basically have two images, one normal and one icy, and use a mask to animate the freezing. Just a thought.

    Best of luck!

Do you mean you need a solid object appear to be turning into ice? Transparent ice?
Do you want the screen to grow tendrils of frost around the edges?

Yes, tendrils would be nice and the text turning transparent ice – sound just about right, any ideas?
