  • Now that sounds like a beta user NDA if I ever did hear one. GREAT! Some users need a little app like this.

  • On the same page there is a little app called HACK TV CARBON. That one works in OSX and I think it sees the KONA as well.

  • Bob,

NOt sure if this will work but Aurora actually makes a little app like this and it’s designed to do exactly what you are asking. It’s called Aurora media grab and you can download it from this page.

It’s a fast and dirty media grab app. Not sure it will recognize or play nicely with the KONA 2.

    Martin,

If the client is specifing D-beta aquisition then you should shoot in that format. If you just try to shoot DV and transfer and tey are used to D-Beta camera rushes they will see a BIG difference.

If there is a way to unistall the qt 7.0.2 you should. This is rarely easy. I am very leary of any upgrades on machines that have capture cards inthem. In the future I would check with AJA tech before doing any such upgrades. The drivers obviously have to work hand in hand withQucikTime and things need to be tested before new driver are released.

Software update is a tempting and easy way to upgrade software, but I always check first because machines with cards in them are business machiinea and my business comes first. I know AJA has a beta driver testing right now and they test things very widely before releasing a driver.

Hopefully a new driver will be released and the new QT will be implemented.

If yo uahven’t backed up and can’t restore your system to a previous state then you try carbon copy cloner to do this, that way you can just restore you old system to exactly the way it was before the upgrade.

    Wait a second.

It’s OK. I bought the LA, like two weeks ago and it is the perfect companion for the KONA 2

The LH does not have all of teh features of KONA 2 and what was I supposed to edit with while I waited for the new products. I have an Aurora Pipe Studio card too. They did a great thing. They offered to buyback old hardware (4year old hardware) to keep you in theor product line.

I thought that was a nice thing to do. It worked out to about a 500.00 savings for the product. Not may m,anufactureers do that, but it’s a competitive business out here.

I think you have made a sound investment and probably will make it back many times over before it is completley useless.

It still works and your rate is still the same. Sure 1K in your jeans is always better, but it’s hard to complain. If you got stuck in an AVID ten years ago you had a reason to pull your hair out. This is chicken change compared to that.

    Joshua,

I assure you I was not trying to rip and that was not the intention. The KONA 2 and the F-500 play well together. No question is a stupid question on teh COW or anywhere else.

Just make sure those drives can play back the Footage that you have there. It takes horsepower to move HD and the F-500 is not a cheap rental.

Any help I can offer, just ask.

    🙂

This sounds like a drive speed issue. if that drive is fairly full it might not be able to handle what you are throwing at the Frame buffer on the Kona 2 Card. This should work fine.
