problems after updating to Quicktime 7.02
We are getting a strange flicker (looks like field disorder but also shows up on paused signal) on SDI input to our Kona2 card. Tried to digitize SD to several codecs – but the problem is also there when playing back the newly digitized material. Old material plays back without problems.

After upgrading to latest 10.4.2 security update and Quicktime 7.02 we have serious capture problems related to the Kona 2 driver. The input flickers and jumps – but this can be resolved by setting the Kona Output timing to FREERUN. Unfortunately this is not a solid work around. We have reptitive crashes during logging and capturing. The system must be reboot in able to get control over the Kona card again. Any suggestions are welcome…

If there is a way to unistall the qt 7.0.2 you should. This is rarely easy. I am very leary of any upgrades on machines that have capture cards inthem. In the future I would check with AJA tech before doing any such upgrades. The drivers obviously have to work hand in hand withQucikTime and things need to be tested before new driver are released.
Software update is a tempting and easy way to upgrade software, but I always check first because machines with cards in them are business machiinea and my business comes first. I know AJA has a beta driver testing right now and they test things very widely before releasing a driver.
Hopefully a new driver will be released and the new QT will be implemented.
If yo uahven’t backed up and can’t restore your system to a previous state then you try carbon copy cloner to do this, that way you can just restore you old system to exactly the way it was before the upgrade.
