I think it is 1080i as it had problems with 1080 24P input dis ot display, hence the miranda DVI converter with pulldown.

Graemes Chroma smoothing filter might help too.
DV Matte pro is also a product worth lokking into.

It is faster than 10-bit uncompressed. You should download a trial (FREE and fully functioning) and runa few tests. The reader is free to anyone so if you archive with it anyone can install the reader and read the files through QT.

I am doing this exact thing right now with a lab in the Toronto area called Cine-byte.
I am sure if you send them the film on a drive they can baselight corect the 2k and do your film transfer. Try not to send a color corrected version as you will loose the benifits of correcting in the film color space.

I think that it does nothing but help Apple by offering great alternatives to some bundled codecs inthe software package. RT enabled, the sheer codecs would be a great time and space saver. They are really well engineered.
I know that, as users, talking to Apple seems like a few Rams on a mountain side, but we have to try when good things are avaialbe.

This sharp monitor is the largest true 1920×1080 monitor on the market, but it doesn’t do 23.98 frame rates. you need a 1500$ miranda converter to do the pulldown on the fly, but it looks unbelievable.

Which codec?
What do you mean by “squeezed down to render”?
Maybe it’s a combo of resizing/square pixels. Much more detail needed for an answer.

Trash your prefs firs and do a restart and repair permissions.
Just in case you haven’t done that yet.
Close all sequences when doing edit to tape as well.

This was previously a feature of FCP but alas now it has been removed. I guess it was eating up too much open GL or screen redraw power or something.
Short answer. No more timeline scrollling in FCP 5.0
