I don’t see a checkbox in quicktime for making a “virtual” movie.
    Where do you see that?
Or are you talking about “unchecking” the box that says
    make movie self contained?

I’m a day late (and maybe a dollar short) but
if the clip is named 1 and 1a, that will cause
the creation of a two camera multiclip.
I’m not at FCP right now so forgive me,
but go to the clips in the browser and go down
the columns until you see angle. In clip 1, but 1
in the angle column and clip 1a, put 1 as well.
    Now make a new multiclip.
There probably isn’t anything in the
angle column unless you put it there.
    See if this helps.

How come web addresses aren’t clickable in this forum?
Is there a different kind of format to posting them?

    https://manuals.info.apple.com/en/Final_Cut_Pro_5_User_Manual.pdf

and stop calling them groups. In FCP they are multiclips 🙂

Having worked with AVID multicam for years and now FCP’s
version of it, you will not be disappointed. It works pretty good,
but different. In some ways much faster, some ways
not so much. But it’s only version 1 for multicam.
It’s not bad now but it will get better.
For the price, you can’t beat what Apple has done.

The DVE in FCP doesn’t do an effect where something is being shoved
into a bottle, you know, squeezed at the end, does it?

    Adam,

Are you sending your output file from compressor to your media drives (RAID) ?
Have you tried sending the file to someplace other than
your media RAID, like maybe a second drive in your G5?

I use compressor many times a week with no trouble.

Tell us what you do after you export.
What do you do in compressor to finish your set up?
What are you asking it to do?
Where are you asking it to put the finished file?
How much memory does your computer have?
How much room do you have on the drive you are
    asking compressor to save to?
    What OS are you on?
What version of FCP Studio/Compressor are you on?

Compressor works for thousands of people.
FCP/Compressor is very prevalent in all kinds of levels of
production. That’s not to say people like yourself don’t
have issues. But I haven’t seen one yet that couldn’t be
resolved by going through each step and seeing what
    the person was doing.

  • The number of sequences and the number of nests you do,
these are what determine project size, mostly.
If you don’t do nests, you will not have any trouble.
Like the last guy said, whenever FCP has to reference
media or a nested sequence, from within another sequence,
that makes the project much more complicated from a
    size standpoint.

January 29, 2006 at 9:33 pm in reply to: Green artifacts around Alpha channel in FCP 5.0.x?

I’ve had this problem with tiff files and certain plug ins.
The way I get rid of it is to not render at 10 bit.
Do it at 8 bit and you don’t get any greenies.
Go to sequence settings, video processing, render in 8 bit YUV.
You can now render those motion effects at best quality.
But if you have complicated color effects you may see
some slight banding. But for me I have not had that problem.
I still do all the editing in 10 bit uncompressed,
but if I get one of these greenie problems for an effect,
I’ll just change the render setting to 8 bit and they go away.

I’m thinking this is a codec problem. I use Aurora Pipe Studio
and Aurora codecs, but you say you use Blackmagic?
So maybe they both have this problem. I wonder if AJA people
    see this too?

Did the google and found Personal Backup. Never heard of it previously.
OK, at three times the price is it three times better than SuperDuper! ?
I don’t see any glowing reviews.
