Still no good. I tried playing the movie just with a quicktime player and it looks bad there as well. Is my process correct (working in 24fps, rendering out at 30fps, lower field, 3:2 pulldown selected)?
I’m working in 720×540, rendering out in 720×486. I’ve used the anim coded, avid codec, dv codec. It all turns out the same…
Any other ideas? Thanks in advance for any insight…

Are you talking about lines that appear when you’re ram previewing the comp? If so, you can try turning on frame blending for that layer. Also, I’m not 100% sure if this helps, but if the layer you’re talking about is video, make sure the source’s settings are all correct by right-clicking on the source in the project window and choosing “interpret footage>main”.
Just a note, I sometimes get wierd vertical lines when previewing a comp that don’t actually effect the final render.

Also make sure the editor’s import setting are the same as the settings you’re rendering out with (field order, etc). I know movies imported with the wrong field order have caused some of my quicktimes to look really bad in Avid.

in the future, you can change it to a standard keyframe by going its “keyframe interpolation” settings, and changing the temporal interpolation to “linear”.

Assuming you have sufficient comp speed and all that…
try rendering any effects you have first for seqs with multiple layers. Or just monitor the bottom video track (or no video track at all) if you’re only working on audio. Turning off your video monitor button in the timeline always speeds everything up, and it’s a great way to work on audio-only stuff.
Other than that, close any unneccessary bins, make sure there’s not a lot of overlapping windows, that kind of thing…
Good luck

Just “alt” drag the flop ontop of the color correction. That way you’re nesting one effect inside the other. Or “step in” to the flop effect from your timeline, and add the color correction to the original clip.
For more info, look up “nested effects” in the Avid manual, or click on the link below.

try hitting ‘save current’ under the toolset menu (I think it’s that menu) before you exit. What’s happening is that the windows/tools are reverting to the saved layout when you open the project. By choosing ‘save current’, you’re telling Avid to save the window/tools layout you have for the toolset you’re using.
Good luck…

Are you bringing bins from other projects that aren’t running on the unity? If so, those clips from outside projects (even when batch digitized) will be associated in the media tool with the original project.
In media tool, try ‘all projects’, then sort by that column to see if there are old/outside projects with leftover media. And try getting rid of your render files if you haven’t already tried that – but beware that deleting render files associated with imported targas/etc will make that clip offline…
Good luck…

I know it sounds wierd, but have you added any firewire connections to the G5 recently? On my G5, I have to re-arrange my firewire connections to fix these kinds of glitches. Just a thought.
