Thanks for the input matt, but that didn’t help I have a kona 3 card. But I’m not using it for playback. It’s fully updated and I’m running it 64bit mode on the machine. (But I did make sure in the aja control panel I’m matching my comp settings just encase)

I’ve given my OS more memory to work with, I have disabled openGL…. I’m kind of at a loses????

Thanks again for all of the help…
    dan.

We had looked into that. It starts to take away the connivance of bringing stuff back online… It take forever to transfer 50gbs off of a BRD. It’s a heck of a lot quicker to wait for a video tape. thanks for the thought though….

Thanks for the help Grin. Now I hope to find something similar in Final Cut Pro… We use the media manager to Minimize out Project and archive to a couple of drives, But I trust a HDCAM tape more.

I bought a Lace External Burner.

I have been very happy with it.

The drive it has Pioneer BD-RW BDR-205 in it. If you want to save the money I’m sure you can find the drive cheaper and get a case some were else.

You could buy two cables and a cheap HD TV w/ HDMI from the Wal-Mart… It wont be a pixel for pixel picture.. It is down and dirty… But works. Mac will recognize that it is a HD TV and give you the correct resolution setting… 720 or 1080… It will treat it like a second monitor.

Tell FCP to use it as your video playback thought View / Video Playback / Digital Desktop RAW or Full Screen.

Mac Mini DisplayPort – HDMI Cable

    HDMI Cable

This is one solution to a tight budget… Or you would have a Mac Pro tower with a Kona card and genelec monitors and a nice ikegami or sony video monitor

July 24, 2009 at 1:19 pm in reply to: Rendering in the Background?

It’s to bad that you couldn’t Start an Export… then FCP would render and compress the sequence…. Once it was done all of the rendering it did would leave that render in place. In the sequence… I know FCP doesn’t do that now… But it seems like all of that render work isn’t be taken full advantage of.

If that was the case we would do mock exports to a folder that was trashed everyday.

We render everything here 1080 10bit Uncompressed… We are heavy on compositing and effects… Some of the stuff takes 6 – 7 hours…. We render everything in the sequence before we do real exports for finals. To many bad render to take a chance.

Thats how it would work… one or two test machines for about 1 – 2 weeks…

I have about 6 guys chomping at the bit… thinking they can export a rough for DVD, and a movie for CC, wile they keep working…

No, I have been emailing and calling Aja for the lst year . They are like Sony… “just a few more months” and still nothing. Contact Jason at MacCap… They have an HD solution… and their cap software is the best I have ever seen. We have sent 10s of thousands of $$$ on caption gear.
