hey,
that worked fine yesterday then today while working it did the same thing again.
literally won’t open a project I closed two minutes ago.

so I closed FCP,
nothing tried to save by the way, which in itself is odd for FCP.

after closed I clicked on the project that would not open and it opened fine.

this is bizarre.
trashing preferences once I get through today.
don’t want to jinx the project I am on.

Hey Jodi,
I was wondering if you solved this issue as It just happened to me.

literally, projects I just saved seconds ago will not open, telling me FCP 7 can’t open FCP project files.

Well yes that is how it used to be.

But all of a sudden it just stopped doing it.

I guess I should try a preference dump, then.

I was just assuming that I had somehow hit the right series of keys to change it.

But if YOU don’t know how to make this happen, I am confident that there are no such key sequence that can do it.

I am still in FCP 7

It does seem to be related to “rendering” somehow.

When it goes “mad” and I jump frame by frame, i get a green frame, a black frame , a normal picture frame and then repeat.

I did throw out everything in the render folder, to start fresh.
problem persists though.

The only new filter involved here is a NEAT, grain reducer.
these problems seem to have come, some time after applying this, but hard to be sure.

i have used this filter many times before, with no problem.

yes I have been down all these roads but I see you saying the the PCIe slots are NOT all the same.
(I think)

I will have to find a diagram that outlines that info and choose a different slot if that’s the case.

The resolution to this WAS a complete wipe of the HD and install of the works! 6 hrs

well the solution seemed to be that my operating system was somehow messed up and a complete install was necessary.
Then it worked fine.

Has any solution presented itself to you?

I face a similar need to convert to PAL, with over a 100 titles, so need it in house.

In CS4 the proper keys are alt+shif+ctrl+c

I think the same for CS5
