    I’m not working with a 4:3 project.
I am wanting to stylize a couple of shots to appear as 4:3. That’s why the need for a 4:3 layover mask that will act like a crop.

I just don’t know how to create the mask file correctly.

I just spoke with Panasonic and they said it will work with models up to series 12. He said they won’t work with the newest series 20 models.

Important to note that those cards are limited to 422 color space and won’t support 1080 60p/50p.

    Thanks!
I understand how to do that part but am not sure how to carry it over to DaVinci with transparency.

Would I save it as a TIFF and then convert it to a DPX?

    I agree.
Although I can’t afford the panel yet, my plan is to invest in one for my company.

Asking a question about how realistic the price of a DaVinci panel is like asking how realistic the price for a Porsche or Ferreri is. Can you get from point A to point B with other vehicles? Yes. But not as fast and in with as much style.

You get what you pay for.

16 Bit is better than 10 Bit, but the human eye won’t see much of a difference between the two.

You should always export to 16 Bit when your files are going to a VFX house. That is where 16Bit is much better.

    Hope that helps.

    Kim,
You must be smoking something that affects your logic.
DaVinci Resolve is much better than Apple Color with a more intuitive interface and is way faster to use. Resolve is also a lot easier and less cluttered than Apple Color.

You will find DaVinci Resolve in the majority of high end color houses… Apple Color, not so much.

November 5, 2010 at 4:48 am in reply to: No 29.97 Timeline Conform Option?

I was able to play a 29.97 fps timeline, but when I tried to export dailies it would only let me render out at 23.98 or 25. Also, the timecode would only read up to 24 fps.

    Will this be fixed soon?
