Your R3D files are 25fps, not 24fps.
That is your problem.You should edit and grade everything in the original format (25FPS) and then convert it to a 24FPS version from the master.

I spoke with Blackmagic tech support and at this point, they have not tested this setup and don’t plan to in the near future.

It doesn’t address the Red Rocket though via Thunderbolt.
Hoping they can either approve or disapprove that as an option. -

I recently tried playing back RED using a MacBook Pro / iMac 27″ (2011) with the Echoexpress Pro and Red Rocket. I was able to get realtime playback through Redcine, but only 8-12 FPS playback through Davinci Resolve.
My hope is to hear from Blackmagic and whether or not they’ve tested and approved this configuration with the latest iMac.

I have never found the HP DC and puck to be anywhere close to accurate.
We put it next to several displays calibrated with a Filmlight Truelight box and the DC calibration with puck was way off. We had much better results manually calibrating it. -

The D21 is a very, very noisy camera.
I know a company who built a noise reduction tool specifically to deal with D21 footage.A really good solution is Dark Energy from Cinnafilm. https://cinnafilm.com/dark-energy/dark-energy-professional/
It will run on a Windows machine with Nvidia and costs only $400. It will solve your problems. -
