Resolve RED question
Posted by Hyunsoo Kim on September 4, 2010 at 7:22 amHow do you conform to original R3D clips with FCP EDL in PRORES? Does Cinema Tools work OK like FCP and COLOR?

September 4, 2010 at 12:23 pmAdd all the R3Ds in the media pool, and then load the EDL to conform the media.
You should also enable reel number support to avoid any conflicts in case there are two clips with overlapping source timecode.
Resolve supports reading the full reel/tape number written out by FCP in the comments field of the EDL.

September 5, 2010 at 5:01 pmThanks Peter.
I was curious about this. Conforming a mixed source project (Prores, R3D), I was getting some conflicts, which I had to resolve manually. I think this should help. -

September 5, 2010 at 11:20 pmAlso, in the Config page, Project tab, enable “Assist using reel number from the”, and then “Embedding in source clip file”.
It is recommended to set this to before starting your project and adding any clips to the Media Pool.

September 6, 2010 at 2:07 amI’m curious. Why not consolidate all of this in the conforming tab? I’d like to see conforming choices based on the reel name, file name from file or from the file’s header, TC etc. Also, I would like to see some kind of filter for the file types for adding folders and subfolders to the library. For example, you could select to add only R3D and not QT.

September 6, 2010 at 6:03 pmPeople are doing strange things mixing formats these days.
Red, Canon 5D/7D, Film, HDCamSR, EX1/EX3.
Two or more of the above in the same project.
(Hey, its a free country right?)How good is the conform in an EDL consisting of mixed media?

November 30, 2010 at 4:21 pmWhat does it mean when you get a BIG RED ‘X’ on your clips in the timline / conform?
