[Jerry Hofmann] “You’ll want the 8800GT card for starters. I’m quite sure it works with the MXO, or we’d have heard about it by now…”
Not too sure we’d have heard much about anything of this card just yet. Does anyone out there have their new mac pro tower with the 8800GT? I ordered mine almost a month ago and it still hasn’t shipped.

February 3, 2008 at 4:51 pm in reply to: playback plays single frame on external monitorIs your video in the canvas sized too large for the window? (Click in your canvas window, then hit SHIFT+Z to resize your canvas to “fit to window”.)
If your canvas is larger than the window it can cause playback issues.
Might not be your problem at all, but worth a check.

If you convert them properly to DV-NTSC (to match your timeline) you will need no render at all (unless you add effects of course)

[Eric Hansen] “if you have Macromedia Flash 8, it will install an FLV video exporter into Final Cut’s Quicktime Conversion menu. so yes it can happen. but its expensive, so might not be an option for you. “
I stand corrected! Would be a nice feature to have. Already having a Sorrenson 4.5 license I unfortunately will be without that function for a while.

Export a self contained reference .mov. Buy yourself a copy of Episode or Sorensen squeeze. Import the ref .mov and choose/tweak your favorite flash preset.
As far as flash direct from FCP time line with QT Conversion,, doesn’t happen.

January 29, 2008 at 9:03 pm in reply to: installed latest quicktime now FCP won’t loadA few of our machines are still running 4.5. A few months back some joker ran software update on them bringing QT to 7.2 i believe. The computers FCP performance slowed to a near halt. The computers were rendered near useless the lag was so bad. once we figured out the problem, we had to wipe them all clean for a fresh install to get things back to normal.
From what I understand QT 7.x was never made to support FCP 4.5. 7.0 and 7.1 work ok, but beyond that first you will see performance issues, and it seems now perhaps a FCP total shutdown.
Ours are back to QT 6.5 with FCP 4.5 and running great again.
These days the administrative password is kept secret (as it should always have been in any multi-user setting)

Next time you come across this error message, move the video you are trying to speed-change to a place in the sequence where there is no audio or video above or below the clip and try again.
If you drop a clip with audio on a sequence, then select only the video and try to speed change you will get this error. slip the video out of sync from the audio and the error shouldn’t happen next time you try to speed change.

No worries! wish I could be of more assistance. Both time remap and changing a clips speed by right clicking it in the timeline both work fine for me!
If I’m going slower than 50% I like to take the clip into Motion and do the speed change there.

Out of curiosity, was the footage shot with a fast shutter speed? I’ve seen on occasion some “pulsing” of slo-mo’ed high shutter footage before.
