Have you tried using the time remap tool in the clips motion tab? It can take a bit to get used to the interface of it, but works well once you have the hang of it. Also, right click the last keyframe you place in the time remap window and select “smooth” to smooth out the effect.

Wow, funny thing, this post. I’ve been using FCP for more than a few years and have never seen “general Error 41″… until just yesterday!

I copied a graphic from one sequence, pasted to another, then copied the pasted graphic using i think alt+drag (as I realized needed 2 copies of the graphic) I grabbed the 2nd copy, dragged it over a piece of video, once i released the mouse button I got General Error 41. Tried it a couple more times always with the same result. I then grabbed the first copy and it dropped fine over the same piece of video. Then took the problem gfx and dropped it without issue over a different piece of video…

(sequence was DV-NTSC, gfx was Animation Codec, on a mac pro 2.66, 4gig, 1900XT, kona LHe, running 6.02 on 10.4.11)

Any hu.. it had nothing to do with the ver. of FCP that was being used.. so I don’t think General Error 41 is isolated to version incompatibilities.

it’s ‘w’, cycles through 3 view modes. Very easy to accidently hit,, and this problem comes up quite often here on the forum (the last incident only a few days ago)! Threw me for a loop the first time it happened to me aswell,, couldn’t figure out what the heck happened.

This would make sense as DV codec cuts at 486 lines,, and proper uncompressed is 525 with a few of the extra lines that are outside of viewable carrying the cc text info…

could be wrong,,, dont do any CC,,, just trying to remember when we touched on the subject in Broadcast Tech class some many years ago…

How about exporting an aif (48k 16bit) audio file from STP. Then import that aif file into FCP rather than the STP project file?

The main difference between the two drives you’ve listed is the connectivity.

The G-Sata drive requires you to instal a card (that comes with the drive) to allow the sata connection, and will transfer data at 135 MB/second.

The G-Raid2 can be connected via conventional usb 2.0, FW400 or FW800 ports, but limits data transfer to a max of approx. 80MBs

thats why you can handle more streams of video with the G-Sata, ’cause the SATA connection will allow more data flow. You will also get improved real-time playback with the faster G-Sata drive.

Simply, the more drives you have in a raid set-up, the faster the raid will be.

Factors to consider are controller card, drive speeds, so on…
If drive specs are the same, running through the same controller card, 2 500gig drives striped in raid0 will perform faster than 1 1-tera drive.

I just picked up a 2-tera G-Speed eS. It boasts read speeds up to 230mbs. I can later add a second 2-tera G-Speed eS stack and stripe it with my existing stack for a little less than double performance.

import them into FCP and adjust them there is needed. no need to go into after effects for this. However, if these files are mpeg compressed,, or of an edit-unfrendly codec, I would convert to the codec you are going to edit with before importing into FCP. You can do this in Quicktime, Compressor, After Effects, Mpeg Streamclip… so on…

I like the Noise industries filter as-well! Have used it a few times.

CGM has one as-well called Handy-cam that will add shake, timecode, rec in the corner, safe zones, battery life, so on…. All adjustable.

I find the NI Camera shake better and adjustable to be far more natural than the shake in the CGM plug-in set, but also like the cgm plug for its added features (cheesy granted, but useful here and there.)
