I am thinking about buying a new mac pro and am wondering if the MXO will work with either of these video cards:

    ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT

    ATI Radeon X1900 XT

Most of the mac pro setups have one of these cards, I will probably end up with the 2600 so I am most interested to know if this card will work. The Matrox site is of no help at all as they do not list any of the new cards.

I have 2 pc setups one with the RTX100 and another with the X2, both have worked well but I want to be able to do color correction with Color and need the Mac. Just as a side note, as I know the Matrox guys watch this fourm more than their own site – the Mac’s don’t have that many video card options, why can’t you guys just get the testing of the cards done so we all can just buy a Mac without searching all over the web for support every time we want to buy your products!?

I understand the problem with PC setups – too many options to test, but with the Mac Pro this is not such an issue.

    Thanks in advance.

You’ll want the 8800GT card for starters. I’m quite sure it works with the MXO, or we’d have heard about it by now… there’s little that would make it not work in fact. the x1900 card isn’t offered by Apple and has been replace by the 8800gt card.

You’ll want that card for Motion and Color in any event. More VRAM, faster graphics.

Not too sure we’d have heard much about anything of this card just yet. Does anyone out there have their new mac pro tower with the 8800GT? I ordered mine almost a month ago and it still hasn’t shipped.

Have either of you asked Matrox through email? Might be a good idea, but I’ll bet it works just fine.

    Colin –

If it helps, a client of mine who ordered a Mac Pro with the nVidia 8800 a week ago from Apple’s site just got notice that it shipped on Friday.

I read in another discussion group that the shipping holdup was due to a needed point release in software related to enabling the PCI 2.0 bus that this card uses, rather than a supply problem with the cards.

    Good luck with yours.
