Your FCP timeline, is it 44.1K or 48K? I would imagine 48 as this is what FCP likes best.

Try converting the 16bit 44.1K audio track to a 16bit 48K .aif before importing it into FCP. Use i-tunes for this (in itunes advanced menu/import options select 16bit 48K .aif as import method/format, bring in the original track to your library, right click on it and choose “convert selection to aif”

Bare with me here,, might have a creative work around for ya.

How are you capturing??? Is the line 21 info retained if you capture and output without adding any filters??

If so, and you are using a Kona Card (LHe anyways.) Capture the video analogue through your Kona card, using the AJA Control Panel proc amp to adjust your video levels as you capture. In the ‘Log and Capture’ window open up the ‘Clip Settings’ tab and click on the ‘video scope’ button to monitor your adjustments if you don’t have proper scopes.
Then, lay it all back to tape sans-filters!

This is of course of you are using an AJA LHe card. Don’t know if this would be possible with a Kona3. Don’t use BM so not sure if possible with those cards either.

I only just thought of this so I’d do a test clip first just in case this doesn’t work at all!!

Just read the page. this one’s for OSX ver 10.5.3 or higher. So look for Avid codec pack ver1.8 for anything older

Copy and paste this url into your browser. Scroll down to the bottom and download the codec pack for Mac and install. This is version 1.9 for Leopard. If running OSX 10.4 read through it just to make sure it’s good for 10.4 as-well. If not you may need to search the Avid site for ver 1.8 if this one isn’t 10.4 compatible.

Convert the original Quicktime files to the same codec/fps/… as your sequence.
Then import the resulting file into FCP and you wont have to render any more.
you can open the file in quicktime player and choose Export, setting the properties to match your sequence. or you can do this with Compressor, MPEG streamclip,, what ever.

As far as getting your drive good to go. Open up disk utility, and erase it/reformat it to OSX extended ***NOT JOURNALED*** and you’re good to go.

this particular situation is not really a “Final Cut” issue. This pertains to any NLE and even any linear edit suite. If you are going to dissolve/transition in or out of a clip, there needs to be video there that lasts the duration of the effect. You can’t have a transition if you have no frames to transition with…

If you are on the last frame of clip A, and clip B has some headroom on it, you can drag your dissolve to the left side of the edit point, and the transition will back itself into the first clip. Same works vise-versa. But as you see, if both clips are on their perspective first/last frame, you cant have your transition.

Yeah, I know that one.. I’ve got quite a few to tweak so was hoping for an alt-apple-drag or the like that would allow the clip to move, but keyframes to stay locked in the same position in the time line.
Something like that would have been a huge time saver for me.
I’ll probably fix the first, then copy/paste the fixed key frames to the subsequent ones.
