I have a project that came from an Avid system, and all of the media has been handed to me in Avid MXF format. Does anyone know if there’s a way to convert this media to something I can use in FCP? I’m on Studio 2 so I’ve got the latest and greatest, but I can’t figure out any way to get this sorted out so that I can actually do something with these files. I have Automatic Duck, but I don’t have an OMF file to convert to a FCP project, and I’m not sure if that would do anything about the media anyway…

Can anyone help me with this one?

Would Raylight open the Avid MXF files? You could try.

Copy and paste this url into your browser. Scroll down to the bottom and download the codec pack for Mac and install. This is version 1.9 for Leopard. If running OSX 10.4 read through it just to make sure it’s good for 10.4 as-well. If not you may need to search the Avid site for ver 1.8 if this one isn’t 10.4 compatible.

Just read the page. this one’s for OSX ver 10.5.3 or higher. So look for Avid codec pack ver1.8 for anything older
