    Hi Jennifer,

The special effects team would render the final results back in DPX format so it not possible to reference back to the original RED r3d files, unless the special effects team use the original RED r3d files instead and then render the final results to DPX format for you to grade in Resolve.

On a side node, you may want the special effects team to give you the mattes that they have created so that you can use them for isolation in Resolve. If a shot has different mattes, you can ask them to put them in a single DPX file as Resolve now supports different mattes in the DPX RGB channels.

    Hey Aurie,

Just did a quick test and yes you can import the same EDL into the timeline and have it add to the next video track. This is a 8.1 feature. You’ll need to right click on the video track in the Conform Page and select Load EDL Into New Track.

Also, you can copy and paste one timeline to another in the same project, so that basically allows you to compile all your sessions into a single timeline.

    Hi Aurie,

With Resolve 8.1, you can import another EDL and it will put it on the 2nd video track but not sure about importing the same EDL though. Have to try.

Or you could import an XML instead, which can contain multiple video tracks.

  • Thanks Mike 🙂

  • Hi Michael,

Thanks for the tips…will try that 🙂

Question…must the folder inside the MXF folder always be a number ?

And if it’s only numbers, can it be double or triple number like 10 or 100 ?

Maybe what we need is an adjustment node like the adjustment layer in After Effects which allows us to definite a range in the timeline which this node will apply to.

The question is how to define the range – do we do it in the timeline in the Conform Page and then have it shown in the Color Page as a node in the Track tab ?

Or a new tab window for this ?

You would use the Track tab and add color correct nodes there. This will apply to the entire timeline on top of your individual grades in the Clip tab.
