How are you encoding this finished file?

If you edit 16X9 project, export as current settings – reference file.
Drop clip into compressor to make dvd files, check for 16X9 and import into I-DVD

(We use DVDSP, not familiar w/ IDVD…)

OR

Import file direct into Idvd.
Before u import anything, check your Idvd project settings and make sure they’re set to 16X9
After you put in your clip make sure u have 16X9 pan and scan set to display you video. This will flag DVD players to display it properly.

Output ur finished timeline to a reference file.
Bring that into compressor.
Create DV50 file or whatever format u need.

20 Beta Tapes cost = $160.00
20 Station Pay you = $15,000

Sounds like a deal to me…
(I know, shipping = $60.00)

But, that aside, I think u’ll have to check with the stations and see what deliverable they’ll except. Some may take a digital file and some may not.

Maybe you can ftp mpegs to some and data disc mov. to some and beta tape to some?

Is the “another computer on your network running with same serial” error related to FCP or the flash program?
In a pinch, change your network settings so there is no connection.

As long as your FCP version(s) are the same there should be no probs.
Working in AE should not pose any probs. Create/render on laptop and bring into FCP on laptop?
If you need to lay off to tape in the field (field truck) that is where you want to make sure you’re all set. The KiPro looks like a great addition. Can u trial run it w/ laptop?

Are you rendering out of AE as a 720 X 486, 29.97FPS video clip?
What r ur settings in ur FCP Timeline?

I used to copy the clip to another timeline (called wrk area) apply speed change there and copy and paste back. Also can move it to the end of the program to apply speed changes or upgrade 😉

You can rename a clip in the timeline:

“control” click on the clip to access.
