  • FCP 6.0.3 getting “another computer on your network running with same serial” error…in error

I was working all week with no problems on a brand new machine. I just moved to the area from the other side of the country, and nobody else has my serial or network password.
I was having a problem reviewing a flash video I made and downloaded the a player suggested in this thread:https://forums.creativecow.net/thread/190/862427

The install seemed to crash, I rebooted, and now I get the “another computer on your network running with same serial” error. There are NO other computers on my network! The error is clearly being generated by mistake.
I have trashed FCP preferences, repaired permissions, reset the PRAM to no avail.

    2 X 2.26 GHz Mac Pro
    OSX 10.6.3
    FCP 6.0.3

Any thoughts? Could I have *gasp* downloaded a mac virus?

Is the “another computer on your network running with same serial” error related to FCP or the flash program?
In a pinch, change your network settings so there is no connection.

    Thanks Chris!

It was FCP. Adobe products were running fine. I ended up doing just that once my sleep deprived brain was able to see the obvious solution. The problem disappeared mysteriously as it arrived, and fortunately my client never knew the difference. Still though…WTF?
