FCP — 16:9 cropped
Hope someone can help to complete this one year project, now close to completion. I edited a 14minute short/teaser produced from tiff still images (original art created in Photoshop) in a timeline set at 16:9 for HDV1080i. I exported the QT movie and then burned a disk using IDVD, again choosing 16:9. It looks great and play as 16:9 on Mac and PC computers but is cropped on the sides when played on both standard and HD TV.
1) I would greatly appreciate any specific direction on getting to a DVD end product that will play in 16:9 on both TV and computer without compromising the quality that I have preserved so far.
I am currently trying the advice of reimporting the QT into a timeline set at 4:3 but are clueless, going into the settings of the timeline what version of 4:3 should be chosen and how the rest of the settings for the timeline should look to result in the best quality at the the end — uncropped.
Any help on finding the best middle ground on brightness for all the various platforms, TV and computes will be appreciated. It seems there is no neutral standard that will make it look good all around?
Facing a deadline on this and all help will be appreciated.

How are you encoding this finished file?
If you edit 16X9 project, export as current settings – reference file.
Drop clip into compressor to make dvd files, check for 16X9 and import into I-DVD(We use DVDSP, not familiar w/ IDVD…)
OR
Import file direct into Idvd.
Before u import anything, check your Idvd project settings and make sure they’re set to 16X9
After you put in your clip make sure u have 16X9 pan and scan set to display you video. This will flag DVD players to display it properly.
