You’re a bit all over with your post.

If you choose Export “Current Settings” You can then take the file and play that in QT and you will have A & V.

Now, you can take that exported file and drop it into Compressor to make DVD ready files.

You can import that file directly into DVDSP and IT will create the DVD files for you.

If you exported create DVD from FCP, does it make 2 separate files?
Where you doulbe clicking an mpeg file to play after the fact?

I would use the 3-way color correction.
IN the high-lights, drag away from pink.

Your attempt went to far as you can see.
Check your scopes, Get the white level down to 95% or so.
Pull a little away from pinky-red on all 3 wheels.

Pull Down Removal will not affect Aspect Ratio.

Did you shoot widescreen? If so, choose the east setup:

DV NTSC 48k Anamorphic.

You should always export a ref file using “Current Settings” as mentioned here. Drop the ref file into your compression program of choice to create files for DVD or WEB or BD or whatever delivery.

Making a “ref” file is fine. The only reason to make it self-contained would be if creating a digital master for archive or taking it to another machine. Ref files save space. Any app on the same machine will work with the ref file as if it’s the original movie file. There are no layers of anything, it’s just a movie file. That saves a ton of space.

Regardless, don’t change your sequence settings.
Edit/finish in the highest settings.
Export “Current Settings”

THEN, Compress that file in Compressor or Episode or Squeeze or whatever you use for a compression program.

You didn’t mention what version FCP you have but if it’s new enough when you drop a clip into a new/emty sequence FCP will prompt you to alter the settings to best match your clip. Makes it easy.

If you don’t have this, then choose an easy setup that matches what you shot. Create a new sequence AFTER you have choose an easy setup.
