Export to SD / H.264 Takes 21 HOURS?
I normally produce videos lasting no more than 7 minutes but this time around my program is 55 minutes and it is HD 1080p source material.
The timeline is fully rendered and the source video is ProRes 422 LT 1080p and I am using File – Export – Quicktime Conversion to output a 960×540 mpeg 4 using H.264. Final Cut is telling me this is going to take over 21 hours!
Is this normal? I am working on an older Macbook Pro with Dual 2.33 GHZ Intel processors and I have 4GB ram installed.
Can anyone make any suggestions on how I might speed this up? I originally tried exporting off the timeline in full 1080p but the resulting file was over 440GBs as I recall. It was so big that MPEG Streamclip couldn’t really work with it to convert it to a more Web-Friendly format so this time I thought I would go ahead and try exporting off the timeline to the desired end format but I don’t think my little ol computer can run 20 plus hours and not melt down into a puddle of smoldering metal.
HELP!
