    Scott,

You black the tape with about :10 pre-roll to your timeline setup. So if you’r timeline starts a :58 you would start at :48 or so.

Then use Edit to Tape and type in your starting TC.

    Have a wonderful day.

Sounds like the field order of the clips may be wrong, or it’s time to trash prefs.

If you don’t need an alpha channel on them, you could try using ProRes.

    Have a wonderful day.

Try either DiskWarrior or Drive Genius or both. We had similar problems on a machine here and Drive Genius fixed it. We used the defrag on the boot drive while launching from the disc. This can take a while.

Never heard of that format, are you sure it isn’t 60i DV? That you would just capture via FireWire.

    Soozie,

24p (not 24pa) from that camera is 29.97. You will probably need to shoot 24pa and capture with advanced pulldown removal to get what you are looking for. I have that camera and HATE 24p regular. The 30p gives a much cleaner look IMO. But if you can’t reshoot, you might try a smart deinterlacer such as revisioneffects Fields Kit.

Or check out Dave’s suggestion of the Nattress filters. BTW, you ARE viewing this on a proper NTSC monitor aren’t you? Can’t judge this in the canvas.

    Have a wonderful day.

I don’t have any of those problems, but, I also own Episode Pro, a completely different animal and like it a lot. Plus, the Telestream folks are great support.

    Have a wonderful day.

I think the Adobe Classroom in a Book is still the best for beginners, but if you can afford the Total Training DVDs get them.

I edit 108030p ProRes all day long on an MBP 2.4 with 4 gigs of RAM. I only capture via FW though, but it works great. I have a 17″ widescreen for my second monitor, and feed FW through an old deck with component out to a CRT. For storage I use a 2 drawer Firmtec with 1 TB RAID 0. This setup just works.

    Have a wonderful day.

Kevin’s method works well, but a warning, if your master clip is very long, Optical Flow can take hours, literally, as it will analyze the entire clip. I usually find the section I want to retime, copy it with handles and send that to Motion.

    Have a wonderful day.
