Exporting through Compressor is completely unnecessary, and ALWAYS slow. Export a self-contained QT movie.

I have the exact same machine and it rocks. Suggest you try some of the other good advice.

I am capturing 1080 30p ProRes on my laptop as I type, in real time, via FireWire. Do it almost every day.

Ignacio,

With FCP Rescue, you must quit FCP, then hit the trash button. When you re launch FCP you should get a prompt to reset your primary scratch disk, and you will have to re-do your easy setups and preferences.

If you do not see all this, you did not do it correctly.

Trash your prefs. You can do this manually or let FCP Rescue do it. It’s free and easy.

Ignacio,

Trashing prefs is easiest with FCP Rescue, which is a free app. No, it does not require a re-install.

If your field dominance is set to none, then do what Dave suggested.

That shouldn’t be any problem, I have the same setup as David plus one of their two drawer units for my MacBook Pro, which I also can plug into the 4 port card.
