March 6, 2012 at 12:27 am in reply to: Using 2 Black Magic Intensity shuttles for multi camera feedHi Dan,
The Intensity Shuttle requires a great deal of bandwidth, and I would expect the USB 3.0 chip on current laptops would not supply sufficient bandwidth to support two.
The driver itself can support multiple capture devices. Using two or more devices is quite common for development of specialist applications, but I think this kind of thing would be quite difficult on a laptop at this time.

February 13, 2012 at 12:53 am in reply to: Ultra Studio 3D problem playback to HDMI monitor from NLE timelines.Hi James,
There’s a few things to check that may affect the output from FCP7.
First, please make sure that View->External Video is set to ‘All Frames’ and that View->Video Playback is set to the relevant Blackmagic Video output mode. Finally the best way to set FCP7 up is to use the Blackmagic Easy Setups located in Final Cut Pro->Easy Setups. Sometimes using customer setups can cause issues.
I find these would typically solve output issues in FCP7, but if you continue to have problems, your regional support team should be able to help you out.

Hi Bo,
The current Decklink HD Extreme 3D card will allow capture and playback of 1080p50 and 60 over SDI and HDMI.

Hi Michael,
Kris is correct. The two SDI video signals must be synchronised for the UltraStudio 3D to understand them as a 3D signal. Two independent SDI streams will not work since the frames will be arriving at the inputs at different times, and presumably at ever so slightly different rates.
If you need to capture from two independent sources, the only way to do so would be either by using two capture devices, or using our Decklink Duo or Quad cards which would appear to the system as if it were multiple standard Decklink cards.

Hi Steve,
The method of naming clips has changed in v3 of Media Express.
The Description, Scene, Reel etc. boxes have a ‘+’ button next to them. If you click this, it will add whatever you have in that field to the file name. The clapperboard button next to each increments the value in that field.
If you just want to name the file, the description field is all you would need to use. The current Desktop Video manual has some further information on this on p36.

Hi Sameer,
The Hyperdeck Shuttle doesn’t have any HDCP protection on it’s output. So you should be able to output to an HDMI monitor as long as it supports the format you are working with.
However I don’t believe that the HDMI output of the HyperDeck Shuttle will work with a DVI monitor. Typically DVI is looking for an RGB signal, where the Hyperdeck will always output YUV. There may also be differences in supported video formats depending on the monitor.

December 7, 2011 at 1:11 pm in reply to: Extended Desktop with Extreme 3D card? What about Decklink Studio?Hi Keith,
The DeckLink Studio doesn’t have hardware capable of outputting an Extended Desktop. Of the current lineup of PCIe devices only the Decklink HD Extreme 3D, Multibridge Pro and Eclipse, support this.
I should also mention for the benefit of others that this feature is only available on Mac OSX.

Hi Hannes,
The easiest way to install the codecs is to install the latest Desktop Video v9 driver package. This will install the codecs so that they are available to the system. No hardware is required to use the codecs.
You can download this by selecting any of the DeckLink series of cards from our support pages here:

Hi Chase,
I’m not sure what could cause this, I don’t believe there was a firmware update between these two driver versions for the Intensity Pro, so I can’t imagine anything has changed hardware-wise.
I would of course suggest making sure all the connections are OK. But if you are still seeing problems please get in touch with your regional support team. You can either send a support request through the website from the support pages:

November 4, 2011 at 4:54 pm in reply to: Capturing to Prores using Multibridge Pro and Media ExpressHi Nick,
You are correct. ProRes is an Apple codec, and to my knowledge can only be encoded on Mac systems. The DVCPro support is also only included in Media Express on Mac when you have Final Cut Pro installed on the same system.
On Windows we have Uncompressed 8 and 10 bit YUV 4:2:2, Uncompressed 10 bit RGB 4:4:4 for use with RGB input signals, as well as Motion JPEG and DPX.
Easy Setups are a Final Cut Pro feature. But all the important settings in Media Express are included in the Edit->Preferences panel.
