November 4, 2011 at 4:47 pm in reply to: Multibridge Pro – 1080p Capture

    Hi Nick,

50 or 60Hz would indeed the refresh rate.

It’s only possible to take 1080p50/60 into the Multibridge via SDI.

With certain applications, in particular Media Express, Premiere Pro etc. it is possible to capture 1080p25/30. However I don’t believe the Xbox can output these lower progressive formats.

Of our capture card range only the DeckLink HD Extreme 3D+ is capable of capturing 1080p50/60 over HDMI.

    Hi Nick,

As far as I am aware the Xbox 360 will only output 1080p at 50 or 60Hz, which are not formats the Multibridge can capture via HDMI. I believe the HDCP on the Xbox will only kick in when playing videos or DVDs.

1080i50 or 60, or 720p50 or 60 should capture OK. But you would need to switch to this in the Xbox’s display settings, and change the capture format in the capture application.

November 1, 2011 at 10:43 am in reply to: DeckLink Quad with Sony PTZ cameras?

    Hi Chris,

The DeckLink Quad will only accept SDI signals. SDI is purely digital. To use the Quad with the outputs of the camera you would need to convert the analog signals to SDI. You could use something like our Mini Converter Analog to SDI boxes to do this.

The DeckLink Duo and Quad cards are the only ones we produce with multiple inputs on a single card. An alternative is to use multiple cards in a single system. Something as simple as multiple Intensity Pro cards would give you multiple analog inputs, and could work as long as your system was capable of supporting so many cards.

I would of course also make sure that you have software designed to do what you want to do. Multiple instances of Media Express can be run at the same time to capture each stream of video, but anything more complex than this might need some third party software.

October 28, 2011 at 8:16 am in reply to: Decklink duo and extended desktop

    Hi Stefano,

I’m afraid that this wouldn’t be possible. The Extended Desktop feature was only enabled on Mac OSX. It will not work on Windows. However the DeckLink Duo too does not support the Extended Desktop feature. This really is limited to certain x4 PCIe cards such as the DeckLink HD Extreme 3D cards and the two Multibridge models.

October 28, 2011 at 8:06 am in reply to: SDI capture on my Decklink 3D Extreme

    Hi Ray,

To switch between the different inputs on the card you would just need to goto either System Preferences (on Mac) or Control Panel (in Windows) and then the Blackmagic control panel. Here you should find a dropdown box for ‘Set Input’. You would just need to change this to the relevant SDI option.

  • Hi John,

The Intensity Pro works in a different way to a graphics card, so won’t appear as such in the system. Please do make sure you have the latest Desktop Video driver installed on your system. You can download this from the support pages of the Blackmagic Design website here:

    https://www.blackmagic-design.com/support

The easiest way to determine whether the Intensity Pro card is recognised is to check the Blackmagic Design panel in the Mac’s System Preferences. If all the options are selectable, it should be working fine.

If this looks fine, the easiest way to test the card is to use our Media Express application to capture and playback. This will be found in your Applications folder.

If you need any further assistance, please do get in touch with your regional support team you can send a support request using the support pages above, or find the support number on the following page:

October 10, 2011 at 10:45 am in reply to: Ultrastudio 3D and canon xf105 HDMI input issues…

    Hi Philip,

If you’re getting sound but no video there could be a couple of problems. Either the capture format setting does not match the incoming signal. This is set in Media Express’ preferences in the Project Video Format dropdown box. Please also make sure that the input connection is set correctly in the Blackmagic Control Panel.

This could also be down to the preview in Media Express not rendering correctly. I would suggest making sure that you have the latest graphics card drivers installed from the manufacturer’s website.

If you do continue having problems however, please do contact your regional Blackmagic support team. You can send a support request from the support page for the UltraStudio:

  • Hi,

I would just like to clarify how the capture is working with the Blackmagic devices. The capture setting in Media Express is simply telling the card which format it should be looking for to get a signal into the software. It should not have any bearing on what the iPad or Xbox should be outputting. So if the signal is coming into Media Express with the 720p setting, the iPad will be outputting this format at that point in time.

What I suspect is happening with the iPad, and certainly happens with the Xbox 360 over HDMI is that the format will change depending on the device it is connected to. Typically we find that the Xbox will start outputting 720p59.94 when connected to our cards. On the Xbox it is possible to disable this behaviour by disabling ‘display discovery’, and then set the Xbox to output a particular format using it’s display settings. However I don’t know if this kind of thing is possible on the iPad.

    Hi Sean,

I’m afraid that the DeckLink Studio cannot support the higher 1080p formats. The only Current DeckLink card that can support these formats is the DeckLink HD Extreme 3D.

August 31, 2011 at 11:14 am in reply to: Eclipse down-conversion (again)

When in capture mode, the outputs are always a loop-through of the input. So I’m afraid I don’t believe there’s any way the down converted signal could be sent to the outputs in this instance.
