As far as I am aware all EF lenses with electronic iris control have pre-set steps at which their iris can be set to. I don’t believe there’s any way to get smooth iris control with these lenses. So on the Cinema Camera too, using the iris control buttons you will see definite steps when opening and closing the iris, and the auto iris button will jump to the setting it needs instantly.

March 7, 2013 at 5:38 am in reply to: Decklink 4K to SDI Multiplex to Sony PVM-X300

    Hi,

We tested this hardware combination with Resolve at a Sony event a few weeks ago and it worked nicely. Premier should work too. However right now I don’t think FCPX will output 4K.

Have you made sure that the Mini Converter is set to perform the correct conversion using the dip switches? Please also make sure that the A and B links from the DeckLink are the right way around. However I think this would just swap the field order.

If this doesn’t help, please get in touch with your local Blackmagic support office. You can find the support numbers here.

January 18, 2013 at 8:08 am in reply to: ultrascope software via thunderbolt

    Hi,

I tried UltraScope on my MacBook Pro Retina 13″. Whilst UltraScope will run, the performance is not great. However I see someone has mentioned recently on another forum that a program like Quickres might allow you to run all six scopes at once.

The MacBook Pro Retina only allows up to the equivalent of 1680×1050, whereas the six-up view needs at least 1920×1080. Quickres allows you to use resolutions all the way up to the retina display’s native resolution. I can’t verify this myself right now, and I expect performance will be even worse, but maybe if you want to try it on this system, it seems like the only way to go.

    Hi Pedro,

This sounds very strange indeed. It sounds like the disk hasn’t been formatted yet. Either HFS+ or exFAT should work fine on Mac, both should mount straight away. So if it’s asking to initialise the disk, it’s either not been formatted in either, or there’s something else wrong with the disk. I would guess the same thing would cause the problem you’re seeing on Windows. You might need to look in Windows’ Disk Management tool since it might give you more information on the disk.

If in the future you expect to be using both Windows and Mac, I would suggest formatting the disks in exFAT to be sure you can use the disk on both systems without the use of extra software.

  • Hi Adam,

Which video format are you recording? The ‘out of range’ message on the one monitor would suggest that the video format you are recording is not supported on that monitor. It’s also quite likely to be the same issue with the other two monitors.

I’ve seen the same problem with the mid-progressive 1080 formats (1080p24/25/30) many times before. If you are using these I would suggest making sure the monitors support them. These aren’t always supported on all monitors. If you need further help, please do contact technical support in your region using the numbers on the page here.

November 19, 2012 at 1:03 am in reply to: HDlink Pro 3d & 27″ apple led

    Hi Javier,

We have seen problems between the HDLink Pro and the Apple Cinema Displays that use Mini DisplayPort. The older 23 and 30 inch DVI Cinema Displays worked really well, but it seems there’s something about the wake function of the newer ones that does not like the HDLink Pro’s signal. In the past we have used these monitors with the original DVI HDLink Pro using a converter from DVI to Mini DisplayPort from Atlona, but I just had a quick look and it seems they’re no longer producing these. Maybe another active adapter would work, but I’m afraid I don’t know of any others that work at this time.

November 8, 2012 at 1:22 am in reply to: Quick question about an old product

    Hi Matt,

This is indeed a limitation of the PCI DeckLink cards. Because they were designed before addressing more than 4GB was common, they will not work when more than a total of 4GB RAM is available in the system. But this also includes other types of memory such as VRAM. If you were to have 4GB of RAM in Win7 64bit, you would see 4GB available, but anything like VRAM pushes it over 4GB, and the DeckLink SP would stop working.

PCIe versions of the older DeckLink cards should not have this same problem however, it only affects PCI as far as I am aware.

    November 5, 2012 at 1:15 am in reply to: Teranex 2D… HD-SDI output issue…

    Hi Jonathan,

I suspect the issue here is more likely to be on the capture card side of things. If you’re able to get SD out from the Teranex, I can’t imagine there would be a problem with HD. The SDI outputs on the Teranex auto-switch between SD/HD/3G SDI depending on the format you’re outputting.

It’s been some time since I’ve used a DeckLink HD Pro-DL, but I think the problem would either be a settings issue or a format mismatch. I’m pretty sure that the card predates true progressive format support for DeckLink cards, but I think PsF should be OK. On the Teranex try toggling between the P and PsF output settings. If you have the option available in the Blackmagic Control Panel, (in System Preferences on Mac, Control Panel in Windows) please try toggling the ‘Use P not PsF’ checkbox.

If this doesn’t work, I would suggest contacting support using one of the numbers on the page here.

September 21, 2012 at 12:08 am in reply to: Does Hyperdeck Shuttle 2 support DNxHD36/120?

    Hi Christoph,

The HyperDeck series support only the DNxHD 220x codec in either Quicktime or mxf wrappers. I am not aware of any plans to support other DNxHD codecs at this time.

September 20, 2012 at 2:40 am in reply to: UpDownCross

    Hi Scott,

It’s not possible to perform this kind of conversion with the UpDownCross. If you input 720p60, with an HD conversion you would always get either 1080i60 or 720p60 out. It doesn’t convert to 59.94.

This particular conversion does work with the new Teranex 2D, but I don’t think it will work the other way around.
