  • Ya, a RAID 5 has more than two drives….

someone who doesn’t know any better may have misinterpreted your statement.

  • [Chris Tompkins] “A 2 TB raid will not offer great performance, even TB.”

    ??

I have a 1 Terabyte Raid 5, it offers great performance.

You shouldn’t need to convert anything.

CS6 will accept every kind of footage… even the kitchen sink!

I work with .mts files daily and never had a problem importing them.

are you using the media browser to bring them in?

    what camera is it from?

That sounds normal for any editing app.

[Shane Ross] “, I gotta respect Adobe (Avid too) for issuing updates to older versions of their software, fixing bugs and making sure they work.”

ya that surprised the heck out of me too.

  • or the last time it was calibrated for that matter?

I’ve seen many ghastly presentations based on projector
    settings being out of whack.

unfortunately most venues but the highest end ones will
    likely be the case.

a single sata internal drive could capture SD SDI or analog composite just fine as pro res.

I’ve done it many times from digibeta before I had a disk array added to a second edit suite.

probably not if your on a mac.

if your on a pc though, you might look into the latest GTX cards
if there’s one with more cuda cores.

    might end up costing less.

I’ve had several of those firewire 800 to 400 cables
and most of them never worked.

now I just use an adapter.

  • Concur about the GoPro footage.

plays smooth as butter once imported to CC.

in CS 6 it had a helluva time keeping up without a render.

normally once the import/conform is finished (and do let it finish before cutting)
and you save, it should not need to again, unless it’s moved to another
    storage volume.

I hope they fix that in CC eventually…it should never need to re conform
footage once it’s been done the first time.
