To delete a “section”, this would include ALL tracks:
Move curser to the starting “In” point and press the letter “I”, then go to the “Out” end point and press “O”. This should give you a highlighted section, then press the “delete” key.Import to timeline can be done a number of ways. One is to just drag it there. Two, depending how you have your “preferences” set up, you just double click or hit enter on the video event in project media. I have my “preferences” set up so when I double click or hit enter the video goes to the trimmer first so I can choose what portions of that event I actually want to go to the timeline.

If I’m not mistaken, Ed Troxel made a script to do that, but I don’t recall the name. Hew made it for me a few years ago, then I think he was going to put it into excalibur.

To show 1 color in a black+white video
Apply the Secondary Color Corrector.
Use the select effect range eyedropper to select the color you want to keep.
Click Invert Mask.
Drag the Saturation control all the way down.Vol 2 #10 of Ed Troxel’s newsletters tells how to pass a single color in the first paragraph and how to pass multiple colors in the remainder of the first article.

grasshopper had a good idea. also, you can make a black frame with alpha center png file in photoshop and put it on the top video track.

As there are many different ways to do things in Vegas; I like to hit enter and send my event to the trimmer first, then select the part I want, then if you cycle thru with the tab key you can have either both, or just the audio, or video. Then I drag it to the timeline.

The two articles by Keith Kolbo mentioned are excellent. I would like to add that I use halogen utility lights purchased at Home Depot and diffuser material from B&H photo with excellent results, using only Vegas 6. (A word of caution….don’t follow all the “Rube Goldberg” techniques suggested on the discussion boards to diffuse the lights, and the removal of the protective light grills; that’s what diffuser material was made for.)
