Better subtitle solution for Vegas
Posted by Paulo Viana on April 27, 2007 at 5:23 pmHi,
I need to subtitle four 20 min video every month (and print to video). Today I manually do it (copy/paste on the text and create every text file on Vegas). Is there a better way for this? Or a plugin or a script? Thanks.

April 27, 2007 at 8:29 pmCreate a .txt file.
Each line will create a new subtitle when you use the Import Subtitles button. Then, you just have to tweak their positions to match the video.

When do you say “Import subtitles”, where I can find it? Are you talking about Architect or Vegas? Is it an script for Vegas? I need to subtitle for print to tape, not for DVD. To do this I need to create several Text Medias, is it correct? This is my problem.
Thanks for your help.

April 27, 2007 at 9:49 pmOops, I was thinking this was for DVD.
I think you’ll just have to place your text events, then copy and paste into them.

April 30, 2007 at 3:57 pmEdward,
I looked at Excalibur webpage and I read that Excalibur Quicklabel can get regions to be used to create titles. Can I use the regions’ text to create this subtitles?
If it’s correct, I could use a script to create several regions from a .txt file (each line a separate region) than I run Excalibur Quicklabel to create subtitles. Is it possible? Thanks,

You might want to look into this Photoshop CS plugin if you have a version of PS CS (PS version 8 or higher.) It looks like it may do what you want. It adds a TV specific pallete to PS with batch processing:

You can download a trial and they’re running a special with a new version intro for $129 (regular $179.) I don’t know when the special ends. I haven’t used this and am in no position to do so right now, but would appreciate a report if anyone wants to give it a try.
