It’s got nice templates if you need to bang stuff out quickly and the particle emitters are cool. I don’t think you can use one or the other. They are both tools in the tool box for different tasks.

It all depends on what program your editor uses. If it’s pro-tools you can export what’s called an OMF by just going to the FILE – EXPORT command and look for OMF. If you’re using soundtrack pro you can do send soundtrack pro right from your timeline.

[Charles House] “I think there’s about 24 tracks tota”

I would try to organize the tracks so your sound editor/mixer has an easier time and things go a little more efficiently. What I mean by organize is for example your first 2 to 4 tracks might be dialogue depending on if you had to overlapped dialogue or not. Sounds effects could be 5&6, music 7&8 and so on all the way up to 24. The more organized the easier it is or he or she to find things in an efficient manner. If you can consolidate and lose a few tracks even better.

[Joseph W. Bourke] “I would also warn my client up front that, no matter how much they like it, there are no promises that it won’t look like something the cow left behind when it hits the air. Base it on your experience and knowledge, and the technical side, and sometimes the client can be brought to reason – and sometimes they can’t.”

I’ve talked until I’m blue in the face. They’re great clients, really great and 99% of the time we agree but this is an issue I’ve been fighting for a year. When the spots air in HD the red looks good enough where i can live with it. It’s when a small regional station wants to get the spot delivered as a quicktime NTSC DV or MPEG 2 at 18 mbits/sec lower than even DV at 25mbits is when it becomes an issue. A part of it is also pride because I want to show my work in it’s best light.

Thanks for the advice on adding more blue and green I will give it a shot.

    Thanks,

    Joe

[Joe Somodi] “The only factor that is different is the use of DVCAM tapes vs. mini dv tapes, but I can’t imagine that would make a difference?”

It shouldn’t make a difference.. you can set fcp to ignore the breaks or have it make a new clip whenever it encounters a break. Are you capturing to an external drive or your internal hard drive?

Under the clip settings of the log and capture window..Check to see if your video and audio are selected with a check mark.

The fix is sort of a pain if you think about it.. It’s not like the CS5 pro res Aja user base is tiny and a fix like this can be easily screwed up. They might be waiting for it to be a bug fix in CS5 or AJA drivers.

you could add a switcher into the mix and take the switcher’s master out into the LHI..That would solve your problem of multiple streams. Record Iso on each camera in case you need to go in later on and clean up any bad switches.

AJA LHI.. I’m in the same “exact boat that you are. Finally got it 5 months ago. love the product… highly recommend the breakout box and if you don’t have house sync the AJA Gen 10 provides HD and SD sync in the same box. you also get up convert in real time on the fly. I’m making dubs as we speak.
