looks like none of the polys in the model are connected to each other (you should be able to test that by selecting any one poly and trying a Select Connected – or just move it and see if it is just an ‘island’) – if that’s true that’s what the SubD is working on, each separate poly by itself. You’d want to try an Optimize in that case, if the points of polys that are right beside each other are close enough that should work

I’d try a plane that’s as wide as the building side profile and then use the knife to cut the angle you need rather than sheer.

it’s probably best to watch some XP4 fluid tutorials instead, the changes are fairly substantial in fluids, then work backwards to the old ones

A while ago now but just in case… It does with the demo here, OpenVDB of either particles or trails with/without a simple material and with just particles or trails (no mesher) with or without material with a Redshift Object tag (set appropriately)

or clone onto an invisible polygon sheet with a single cloner then random those clones

if you don’t want the selected lines in your image to go outwards but go inwards, that would be an Extrude Inner (shortcut I) assuming I’m understanding correctly.
