not post hair, I think. Only if the hair is polys (Generate tab in the Hair object). I suppose you could do a double render, once with poly hair to get an alpha once with real hair but since I’ve never tried it I don’t know what the match would be like. The other possibility might be to use the atmosphere channel desaturated to generate an alpha (once again never tried it)

The simplest thing is to make the head or handle be the child the other object, When you move the parent object the child moves with it. Or you can create a Null Object and put the handle and the head in as Children of the Null. Then when you move/rotate etc. the null it all moves as one unit.

the caps are polygons when you make the Extrude editable (or do a Current State to Object). Just select the caps and the main body and Functions/Connect, this makes a new object with all the bits you connected (you can keep the old one or toss it) then do a Functions/Optimize.

the knife has a lot of settings, you can definitely cut more than one poly at a time. Try unchecking Restrict to selection and Visible only for starters. Depending on how your cut is supposed to work it may not work but you can definitely cut whole objects and if more than one is selected more than one object can be cut at the same time.

use a knife to cut where you want then use, select the part you want to separate (poly mode) then use Functions/Split. That will give you a new object with the selected polys in it, it also leaves the original polys in the first object so to get what you want just delete them.

[Will Salley] “I’ve downloaded several different files”

There’s only one file that’s appropriate (well two, English or German) and being only 100 MB it shouldn’t take 20 hrs, unless you are on dial up, I guess. but as long as you went to Downloads/Documentation ( this page – https://www.maxon.net/pages/download/documentation_e.html ) and clicked on the + sign next to this – CINEMA 4D Release 10.111 & BodyPaint 3D R3.111 – one of those two files should be the right one (the english I’m assuming). Unless you have a corrupted install or something (unusual). Unless someone else here knows something more, you might want to email support.

some fonts did go away but most are still ok. Don’t know if they are bad fonts or if the font routines in C4D need tweaking for OSX but if you need a font you can always bring it into Illustrator (or whatever) and convert to outlines and import that.

You will want to make a cube editable and place it into a HyperNurb and use selective beveling and joining of points to get sharper edges than the corners. This is probably close to what you are after and if you know how the HyperNurb works it’s just a matter of tweaking to get what you need.
