divide a cube
Posted by Maxim Moisseev on August 26, 2008 at 6:34 pmHi all! Do you know a simple way to cut a cube on two parts? I can’t figure out! If I do a Boolean with a plane, I get all the edges and polygons cut, but I still can’t disassenble it!

August 27, 2008 at 4:21 amuse a knife to cut where you want then use, select the part you want to separate (poly mode) then use Functions/Split. That will give you a new object with the selected polys in it, it also leaves the original polys in the first object so to get what you want just delete them.

August 27, 2008 at 6:13 amthis way i can only cut one poly at once. So if i have a group of 10 cubes, I will have to cut 40 polygons? this is not at all an easy way.

August 27, 2008 at 2:35 pmthe knife has a lot of settings, you can definitely cut more than one poly at a time. Try unchecking Restrict to selection and Visible only for starters. Depending on how your cut is supposed to work it may not work but you can definitely cut whole objects and if more than one is selected more than one object can be cut at the same time.

April 10, 2009 at 7:45 pmI still don’t get this.. How am I to divide a cube into many parts and as seperate objects? i.e. so that I can move the objects around.
Kind of like a transformers effect.
