the default direction for the Extrude is in Z. The image looks like the text was rotated first before you dropped it in the extrude. Just change the Extrude parameters so it extrudes in X instead (that’s what it looks like anyway.

xPresso can be used (Set Driver/Set Driven) but that would be a some work to set up. There is a plugin that does what you want. https://www.blackstar-solutions.de/en_c4dshader.php

I’m guessing you have the camera attached to the spline with a Align to Spline tag and the tag won’t let you move it at the end. if that’s the case you can turn off the tag at the end (keyframe unchecking Enable) and keyframe the camera or put the camera in a Null and animate the camera in the null when you need to. If that’s not what’s happening I need more info.

September 30, 2009 at 11:06 pm in reply to: Dynamics HEEEELLLLPPPP!!!!!

re. Separate solvers in Dynamics – nothing can be done that I know about Solvers weren’t meant to do that. Dynamics is older and while it does simple things well it’s not real fancy. There are other collision engines out there – SilverBullet (and something else I can’t remember right now, someone?) they are plugins not free but probably can handle it (never used them myself) ….and 11.5 has Mograph Dynamics now, don’t have 11.5 yet and don’t know if it could do it but maybe.

re Clothhilde – the more complex an object the more it’s going to flex even if very stiff, a couple of things are possible – try maxing Flexion (in spite of it’s name it’s a form of stiffness) that might help (but not too likely)
    – you could wrap an invisible proxy object (a simple cube(rectangle)) around each letter, make the letter be the child of the proxy but the Cloth tag on the proxy. It it fits tightly the collisions would look fairly good, of course if you need very realistic collisions it might not be accurate enough.

With all the letters in one Solver, I don’t think so. Dynamics uses the conditions at the first frame to run from so you can’t change the mass of each later and get it to do something. You’d have to use a different Solver for each letter or use Clothhilde. (A simple example)

I’m guessing that the spline wrap won’t affect nulls (or lights). You could attach the light null to the spline with an Align to Spline tag and just adjust the Wrap’s Offset and the ATS’s Position parameter.

I see the problem. That’s the way it should work if it’s inside, I think. The light hits another object with a different refractive index and so the light bends…. The only way I can think of with the diamonds inside each other is to do it with Booles like this… and that’s assuming you only want to see them as they exit not while they are still inside.

Have you tried the Wrap deformer with your spline?

Here’s a quick example. There are some remarks in there about what the chunks do but not much explanation. Ask for details if you need.

what version of 10.5 (the OS and C4D) do you have the latest updates of each? If you do, I’d send an email to Maxon Support
