Link Textures within Materials to “Auto-Update”

October 5, 2009 at 4:48 pmHi everyone,
Simple question here: is there a way to link two textures within one material in order to have one texture drive two channels? I know the simple way to do this is to copy and paste textures from one channel into another. The problem (or should I say, inconvenience) that I am encountering, however, is that the changes between channels do not update.
For instance, if I have the same gradient in the color channel, as well as the transparency channel, and I make changes to the color, I then need to re-copy the color chanel, and paste it into the transparency channel again.
I am quite used to using the Hypershade within Maya, and know that this is rather simple to do within it. Am I missing something in C4D?
Thanks in advance for your help!!!
