it doesn’t work that way. Select the cube first then choose Functions/Duplicate. Then choose a Mode (in the AM you want linear), set some of the settings and hit Apply. You can set settings after you apply and it will keep changing things as long as you stay in the dialog.

change the spline’s Intermediate Points to Uniform

  • Well, there’s the Timeline in F-Curve mode but if you’re looking for direct manipulation of the animation path in the viewport – select the keyframe on the animation path, if it doesn’t have a handle or if you can’t move the handle uncheck Auto Tangents. If the handle wasn’t there make the Left or Right Value something non-zero. Grab the handle with the Move tool.

one solid color can be done with luminance in the texture, or by using disks instead of spheres… the only way I can think of to do additive mixing though (like your last image) is to use spot lights shining down on a flat white surface (make the inner angle the same as the outer angle for sharp edges).

Should be quick enough, yes. Without knowing more I can’t do anything but guess. Area lights? Reflection with dispersion? Render expensive noises being used? It doesn’t look very complex from that screen shot…

Faster computer is the easy answer but it also depends a lot on the textures – how expensive they are in calculation time, what other pre/post processes you are using (GI is a biggy) – What’s the light setup etc. Need to know more (or see the scene file)

I like the MoDynamics solution myself, I don’t have it though so just for completeness here’s a set of 3 trials.
The original with some rotation added to the Start settings – it doesn’t last long.
Then two new ones, another Dynamics solution but manipulating the Rotational Mass of the sphere and the Static and Dynamic friction setting of the sphere and the cone (and plane) – touchy stuff to get the settings right.
And finally a Clothilde solution – the rotation comes free it does not have to be set up at all but the sim seems to have a “speed limit”…

Here is a very simple example. The important parts are:

    – in the Solver/Main
    – Energy Loss 0 (or very low)
    – Integration Method doesn’t matter much here but try various kinds. Read the Help for what the Integration methods are good for.

    – Solver/Details
    – if the Collision Eps is too low the sphere will respond too much to the individual polys of the cone, so you either have to up the poly count (slower) or leave the Eps higher and put in a ‘proxy’ cone so it looks like it’s touching that one. (then you make the real collider cone invisible).

The settings in the Rigid Body Tags are fairly simple but the Elasticity needs to be low (but you can adjust those if you want more bounce). And the Aerodynamics needs to be very low or it will slow it down (good for cloth or terminal velocity but not here)

    don’t think so

•just create the text you want in Illustrator
    – size does not matter much (but it does make a difference), you can scale it when it gets into C4D
    – C4D will use Illustrator’s origin (bottom-left) as the origin of the text when you import it so you probably want to put the text in the lower left corner before you save.
•with the text selected choose Type/Create Outlines – this is the bit that turns the text into splines
•then save it to an Illustrator 8 file
    – save to an Illustrator file but in the second save dialog “Illustrator Options” choose Illustrator 8 for the Version
    •Open (or Merge) into C4D
