how to array in a straight line
Posted by Jason Boos on July 2, 2010 at 7:52 pmI’m trying to duplicate an object along a straight line. The only array command i see has me arraying in a circular pattern.
How can i go about getting my desired result?

July 2, 2010 at 9:29 pmThe duplicate tool does this. Select Linear for the “mode”
Also Mograph cloner object does this with many more options./Randy

Any insight?

July 3, 2010 at 4:09 pmit doesn’t work that way. Select the cube first then choose Functions/Duplicate. Then choose a Mode (in the AM you want linear), set some of the settings and hit Apply. You can set settings after you apply and it will keep changing things as long as you stay in the dialog.

July 4, 2010 at 1:41 amCooolll!!! i understand it now. I have learnt something.
But what’s the difference in performance between duplicate and the mograph part?

July 4, 2010 at 3:35 amArray and Duplicate came first and are relatively simple and are included in the base C4D. MoGraph came later is a lot more capable but is a module you have to buy. If you have it great, but sometimes if you just need a simple line or radial array Duplicate and Array are still useful.
