Let me get back to you tomorrow on this, can I just upload a small clip here? The files came in from an Advertising agency, not in the original card structure.

What is the the 2K material source? RED, ALEXA? What codec? H.264 is a no brainer, transcode that footage.

I re-downloaded and re-installed the codec on Avid 5.5.1, and it worked, but I’m still unable to get it working on 5.0.2. From what I’ve read I shouldn’t have to download any codec. I was given all of this footage by an advertising company, so I don’t have the original cards unfortunately, but the BPAV folders are intact.

But yes, I’ve been linking Canon 7D cards just fine. Not sure what this issue could be. I’m going to try updating to MC 5.0.3

Bump..I tried this via log and transfer in FCP and it worked just fine. So it’s not the file structure or anything of that nature. Please let me know if anyone has any ideas at all. I have not been able to get Avid to recognize via AMA on v 5.0.2 or v 5.5.1 (no plugins needed for 5.0, and have already downloaded necessary plugin for 5.5). Again, no luck.

Media Composer 3.0 will work just fine (as long as you’re cutting your multiclips at a lower res, but this is true of any version), I just finished cutting a music video, up to 18-split multicam workflow on 3.0.

I’d cut at a lower compression ratio, maybe (10:1-28:1) or just work at DNxHD 36 (depending on the resolution).

23.976/1080p project type. What is the end product? Broadcast? The Web? If you’re not going Broadcast transcode to DNxHD 115.

If you’re dead set on PR4444 you can always online. But I would re-ingest at Prores LT or Prores 422 for offline.

You can use the split layer function. Edit > Split layer. Or I think the shortcut is cmd+shift+D (or E I can’t remember)

Or try playing in Quicktime 7 instead of Quicktime X?
