    howdy all,
ok so i have a bit of an urgent query about avid’s capabilites.
i am assisting on a feature film which has a very important screening happening tomorrow morning. I have been asked to place about 60 graphics shots into the working sequence, however the material for the graphics has come in as 2K, some in H264 and others as DPX sequences.
I was wondering if Avid is clever enough to down res the 2K quicktimes to the project settings (1920×1080 DNX36HD) and what would be the easiest and quickest way to get the DPXs in there?
I am working on a Mac Pro, on Leopard, and on a trial version of the most recent Avid Media Composer.
    peace & hugs,
    esther x

    sounds a bit messy

not sure avid recognizes QT 2K, try linking to AMA first then transcoding to DNX36, if it does not work, import into a 1080 project and set import settings to DNX36.
if that doesn’t work either, you will have to transcode it externally…

is all this just for tomorrow or are you seeking permanent solutions?

DPX can become Avid media files in metafuze (which is a free Avid tool, but you will have to run it on windows or bootcamp) it can make DNX36 mxf for you

as for the H.264 (HD i presume) link to AMA and transcode to DNX36

    good luck

What is the the 2K material source? RED, ALEXA? What codec? H.264 is a no brainer, transcode that footage.
