    Hello,

I’m stumped on how to work with XDCAM EX footage. I believe the BPAV folders are intact, but I cannot manage to link clips via AMA Volume or individual files. I have XDCAM transfer also on the computer, and it reads/views the BPAV folder just fine. I continually get the “There were errors linking AMA files. See console for details.” I am working on MC v 5.0.2, so I am under the impression that the necessary XDCAM v1.3 AMA plug-in was installed with MC.

No idea why it says I am working on Avid MC v3.0

    [ Plugin Name = MVP_MSP_SonyXDCAM Vendor Name = Avid Technology, Inc. Version = 3.0 ] does not support /Volumes/Internal Meda 1.4 TB/Footage From Marshall/ex3 b/BPAV/CLPR/11090139_01/11090139_01.MP4

“Where that light source is coming from?”
“The same place as the music.”

Bump..I tried this via log and transfer in FCP and it worked just fine. So it’s not the file structure or anything of that nature. Please let me know if anyone has any ideas at all. I have not been able to get Avid to recognize via AMA on v 5.0.2 or v 5.5.1 (no plugins needed for 5.0, and have already downloaded necessary plugin for 5.5). Again, no luck.

Do you have the right plugins installed for AMA to read the XDCAM EX?

Here is the link to the AMA plug in page.

    a few more questions/suggestions

did you try it on a different Avid?

could it be a windows permission issue?

is it a batch of cards, and if so, is just one of them problematic or all?

did you try with different footage from a different shoot (xdcam too…)?

other formats (P2 for example) link normally?

I re-downloaded and re-installed the codec on Avid 5.5.1, and it worked, but I’m still unable to get it working on 5.0.2. From what I’ve read I shouldn’t have to download any codec. I was given all of this footage by an advertising company, so I don’t have the original cards unfortunately, but the BPAV folders are intact.

But yes, I’ve been linking Canon 7D cards just fine. Not sure what this issue could be. I’m going to try updating to MC 5.0.3

Issue resolved. Updated to v 5.0.3, and it worked. Annoyed me all of Monday but I’m glad its resolved. I will be at 5.5.1 soon enough…
