Where is the “Capture Device” listing? It should be listed as a “imaging device” in the Device Manager or under “scanners and cameras” in My Computer, if its being listed as a “capture device” that maybe your problem.

HDD would make my system unstable.”Hard Drives average about 2.5w @ 5v and 6watts at 12v, if this was to make your system unstable you are in trouble already, as you are on the edge, and any variation in the power supply’s output as it ages would casuse problems, also a decent 500w supply is better than a poorly constructed 600w

In most cases internal drives are faster and less expensive, also in your question are you refering to just the drive speed or other system increases? -
Why don’t you list your system specs? CPU/MoBo/videocard/soundcard/harddrives and their configurations/Perifs/other software/other uses/ etc…etc.

When the output of the FX540 is set to use video out to the BOB for external monitor use its fine when the external monitor is calibrated properly, its more convenient to use the firewire out and keep a 2 computer monitor setup + a external video monitor.

Its called “Motion Controls” now,after the image is on the timeline click on the image and select the Video Effectts tab thats with the Source monitor and Audio Mixer tabs above the timeline, you will see the Motion Control effect. For further info use the Premiere help under M

If you capture all the clips on a tape and put them on the timeline in order and export back to tape the timecode will be continous.

Yes, just place the timeline cursor at the frame you want to export, select Export in the File menu, select “Export-> frame, name it, etc. if you do it alot there is a keyboard shortcut listed in the menu.
