All of a sudden Premier Pro (1.5 and 2.0) stopped recognizing my camera. My camera is listed in the capture devices. Ive tried two machines different cables and even a different camera but no luck. Other devices work in the firewire plug. I’ve tuned off antivirus, however it seems something is still blocking the connection. It used to work but not now. Any Ideas?

If you have confirmed that the cable and camera indeed are working properly:

-Unplug all other firewire devices, restart, and plug the camera by itself.

-If you have system restore enabled, you could try going back and see if that solves it.

-If that doesn’t do it, I’d go for a clean install of Premiere and /or your OS.

    Cheers,

    Vince

[robkahn] ” My camera is listed in the capture devices.”

Where is the “Capture Device” listing? It should be listed as a “imaging device” in the Device Manager or under “scanners and cameras” in My Computer, if its being listed as a “capture device” that maybe your problem.

If its not being listed in the two locations I mentioned you have other problems than Ppro, do you have another device/s connected to your firewire port? if so disconnect all other firewire devices, reboot and try again, like Vincent mentioned check your cables and connections, most camcorders do not have switchable unique address, if there are two such devices on a port only one will be selected.
