A few questions to a to Aanarav’s, You should describe your system, like what kind of drives do you have and how are they setup

The PNY FX1500 video version has composite and S-video outputs, if you want component output you might be interested in the PNY FX560 video version, it has a BOB with composite, S-video and component out. with the FX cards you can have either two computer monitors or 1 computer and one video

There is nothing wrong with a 965 chipset mobo,

If you are going to use AFX use as much memory as the board will hold, just make sure you set the 3gig switch, also use the fastest processor you can afford

The best thing is another D-8 camcorder, look in pawnshops or on ebay, a new D-8 would still be cheaper than a D-8 deck, a sony gvd-200 walkman deck is about $550 new, a gvd-800 is $650, although you can look for a used one on ebay.

You should mention what version of Ppro are you using? Ver 1(Prem 7) doesn’t work with HDV, Ver 1.5 needs a downloadable upgrade, Ver 2 its built in

[Skala4] “it is calling it a .m2t file not m2v”

By indexing do you mean like system file indexing? if so make sure indexing is turned off in the drive properties, it takes forever to index video files and slows the system down.

    [Sleddriver1] ” I am using PPro7.”
[Sleddriver1] “Won’t this combo work with a socket A board and an Athlon XP 3200+ chip?”

It should, just have a good cooling fan for the CPU, the 3gig and above get fairly hot.

His current MoBo is a Socket “A” none of which handle SSE2, He has to move to a socket 939 or AM2 MoBo to be able to get a processor that will work with PPro2, or a intel based board, the socket 939 is limited to top at AMD64 X2 4800+, advantage with the 939 is you can use cheaper PC3200 memory, the newer AM2 MoBos have faster processors/FSB and use DDR2, a point to look at is processors are going to be evolving fast in the next year or so

If you used the same harddrive with previous loaded programs and drivers, the best way is to reformat and reload, gets rid of possible trouble causing files that reinstallations don’t.

Problems can be caused by a damaged PluginCache file, You can redo it by holding down the Shift key then starting Ppro and releasing it when the Create, select Project screen appears, re-check Preferences that you have personalized
