PP7 Sound Cutoff Problem
Posted by Sleddriver1 on January 26, 2007 at 12:59 pmI’m working with a new install of PP7 on a fresh install of XP after a motherboard failure and replacement. Before the failure PP7 worked flawlessly. Now, when I render projects it cuts off the sound about 4 to 5 seconds before the end of the project. The video continues to be rendered, but not the audio. I’ve had to resort to extending my work area bar by 5 seconds just to get all the sound that I should be getting.
Is this a PP7 bug? Any suggestions?

January 26, 2007 at 3:23 pmAfter a new Windows install, make sure you reinstall newest factory drivers;
Sound Card
Video Card
Motherboard chipset drivers -

January 26, 2007 at 4:02 pmI did…latest and greatest of everything. What’s odd is, PP7 plays the film fine in the Monitor panel…plays it exactly as I have constructed it. It’s in the final rendered AVI file that the sound drop occurs.

January 26, 2007 at 7:19 pmIf you used the same harddrive with previous loaded programs and drivers, the best way is to reformat and reload, gets rid of possible trouble causing files that reinstallations don’t.

January 26, 2007 at 7:44 pmTry exporting just the audio as a .wav (48 kz) file. If that plays fine Then turn off the audio tracks and export the video as mpeg for dvd…load both into Encore, author and burn.

January 26, 2007 at 8:19 pmI started 100% from scratch: brand new HD, brand new XP install, brand new PP7 install, etc…I didn’t want to risk registry nightmares…

January 26, 2007 at 8:21 pmThanks; I could probably also leverage AE6.5 for a similar process. But I just hate workarounds when something worked perfectly before.

January 26, 2007 at 11:43 pmNow things are weirder. I can render the audio-only track to an AVI file, and it renders in full. When I checkmark the box to render video also, the audio cuts out about 5 seconds before the end of the resulting AVI file. AAUGGHHH!!!!!!

January 27, 2007 at 12:12 pmVersion 7 had more than its share of bugs, but I dont recall this one. When the audio cuts out does it do that in Media player?

January 28, 2007 at 12:45 amYes. The AVI file is DEAD in the audio track. But, I did find a bit of a workaround. I rendered the video only, then rendered the audio only, then pulled the two into PP7 and rendered a finished product. Frustrating to have to do this, but at least it worked.
