[iwatkins] “I have the latest version of videoredo and that doesn’t give me the option.”
Videoredo is a mpeg editor, why don’t you use it to work your video, or use a more mpeg friendly program like Premiere Elements or Ulead’s software.

Like Vincent mentions enlarging frame captures from vhs video doesn’t give much information to rezize above snapshot size, you can do a web search for image resing software or photoshop plug-ins like Genuine Fractals Print Pro, Nik Sharpener Pro, but be aware there is alot of interpolation which goes on.

It would help trouble shooting if you would include your system specs and how your harddrives are configured when posting a problem, there are myriad combinations of equip.
Also there is a program called “End It All” which can be downloaded to make sure that a TSR or other resident program is not causing a problem

March 14, 2007 at 11:38 pm in reply to: best drive brand for HD?

Everyone is going to have a favorite drive brand, I’ve used Seagate, WD, and Maxtors with no problems for intergrating systems, mostly Maxtors, to minimize drive problems with any brand is to keep them cool, if they get too hot to touch, they’re too hot. IBM/Hitachi drives picked up a bad rep a few years back with the DeathStar desktop drives, I’m sure their QC has improved by now.

[HowardM] “Blast1, the message say’s “Insufficient disc space for burning” And no, I have not tried diffrent settings”

You have to play off Project size vice Project settings, just clik on the settings button in the Encoding section of the Burn DVD window, then you will get a Export Settings window, in the top right hand area is a Preset: open the drop down and select a different one quality setting down for the listed one ex:
if it says “High Quality 7mb VBR 2 pass” select 6mb then clik OK and if the parameter is with in your size range the “Insufficient disc space for burning” will leave and ready will show up in the status and burn button should be ok.
CBR = Constant Bit Rate, can be used where space in not important and motion is minimal
VBR = Varible Bit Rate, varies the bit rate according to the ammount of motion present, more motion higher bitrate, no motion, minimum bit rate for the quality
1 pass = the encoder makes one pass at compression
2 pass = the encoder makes two passes at compression, can improve low bitrate quite a bit
If you don’t want to use presets you can use the custom setting at the top of the drop down.
You can also use the DVD Layout selection in the “Window” menu, it has DVD menu templates to enhance your DVD construction and has the same Burn DVD setting menu under Burn DVD as above
Its a good idea to review the Ppro manual and also avail yourself of the help menus.

See if you have computer activity at that time, if so audio is conforming and Ppro appears frozen.

In the Burn DVD window what does the Status say? “Media not Present” or “Insufficient disc space for burning”? have you hit the rescan button?
If “Insufficient Space”, in the Encoding section of the Burn DVD window have you tried different settings? If the preset isn’t correct for the size you have the Burn button will be greyed out

Are you sure that Ppro isn’t still conforming audio at that time?

If you want HDV take a look at the new Sony HDR-HC7, it supposed to have good low light performance for a consumer model.
