I want to make a transition similar to the iris ones, but with a heart instead, that starts in the center and grows out, revealing the image underneath. I tried making a track matte but because the images are scaled to different sizes, it doesn`t work right…it shrinks the matte with it rather than working like the premade iris transitions. I need help bad, its for my 3 year anniversary gift for my gf.

Heres a screen shot to explain further. I tried making the matte 1440×1080, still didn`t stop the cut off. The cut off is based on the original frame of 720×480 on the image (which is much larger) So because the image is scaled down to 55 or so, the area for which the track matte can affect is also shrunk. I need it to be like the iris transitions that take up the whole image no matter what….its vital….and our anniversary is tomorrow

I would make the heart in Photoshop. Black heart on white background. Make it big enough so that a 720X480 frame fits into the black area.

Then in Premiere Pro, scale it down to 0 and scale it back up with keyframes. Do this in a new sequence. Then nest that sequence into the main sequence and use it as a track matte. Since the scaling happens in a different sequence, it should solve your problem.

the problem is that the source file that i am putting the ‘track matte transpearency’ on is the one that is resized, causing that unwanted frame effect.

The above got sent before I was finished, I was also going to suggest you could make a simple one using the Image Mask Transition under Special Effects.

So put the resized inage on a separate sequence and nest it back in. That should eliminate the scale issue.
