One hour movie = 15GB
Posted by Howard Mills on March 14, 2007 at 1:29 pmHello everyone, I’m a new PP2 user and was wondering how to get a 1 hour video small enough to fit on a dvd and maintain the high quality?
I find it amazing how movie makers can fit a 90 minute movie on a DVD and maintain the high quality.
Thanks for your help.

March 14, 2007 at 1:49 pmI’ve tried that. When I choose Export > Export to DVD and choose burn to disk my “BURN” button is grayed out. I have a blank DVD in the drive and my DVD burner is selected. Any ideas?

March 14, 2007 at 2:12 pmUsing the trial version? That does not support MPEG, you need the full version for that.

March 14, 2007 at 4:57 pmI’m baffled. Both of my burners are recognized and burning is enabled, although I prefer to export to Encore and author from there. You wouldn’t be running XP64 or Vista would you?

March 14, 2007 at 5:07 pmIf your DVD burners are grayed out that means you prabably have other burning software like Roxio that took the priority of the drive. Do a search for “Can not burn a dvd” in the adobe forum and you will find how to fix it. I had the same problem and I solved it. I just can not remeber how exactly. It had something to do with upper and lower filters. It is something that can be fixed in windows.

March 14, 2007 at 6:16 pmAnother option;
Choose the burn to folder option and then use your burning software to do the burning of the VIDEO_TS folder. -

March 14, 2007 at 6:29 pmThen TClark is probably right. Your configuration is likely confused by having Roxio or similar software installed. Either do a search for the registry fixes or use Mike’s suggestion.

March 14, 2007 at 6:31 pmTClark, you’re right, I do have Roxio EZ CD and DVD Creator 6 on the system. Here’s the strange thing, I opened a 3.67GB project and exported to DVD. My “BURN” button is now accessible. So I guess there must me a problem with the 15GB clip?
Let’s get back to my original question, how and what do I do to reduce the size of the 15GB clip but also retain quality?
Thanks for all the feedback.
