Not that I know of. I will try to shut everything down in the system tray and give it shot again. I will let you know how it works.

I turned every possible program off. It did not help. This time the video on the computer monitor showed the usual blue screen with the oriental writing. But, the camera only showed a blue screen while the counter is moving. It typically shows the video that is being recorded to tape. Nothing shows up on the tape when played back.

Try turning the camera on (VTR mode) prior to launching Premiere. Is there a DV-IN menu setting on your camera?
You may have a dodgy firewire cable or card.

I have had the camera on the VTR mode. I am not sure about the DV-IN. I am at the office right now. I will check when I get home.

I was starting to think about a bad firewire card. I do have 2 firewire cards on the computer. I will try the other tonight. However, I can capture without any problem, not a single dropped frame. I should have another firewire cable around, I will try that also.

It would help trouble shooting if you would include your system specs and how your harddrives are configured when posting a problem, there are myriad combinations of equip.
Also there is a program called “End It All” which can be downloaded to make sure that a TSR or other resident program is not causing a problem

System specs
AMD 2800
1 gb ram
low end nvidia graphics card with 128mb ram
2 250 gb sata hd OS & PP on one drive. Project files, captured and exported video on the the other hd.

I will try the other firewire port after my After Effects project finishes rendering. It has another coule of hours to go.

My After Effects project finished rendering sooner than I thought. I changed the firewire cable to the other firewire card. EVerything is working just fine now.
